Sonesta Star Goddess | Public Areas
Sonesta has many ships in our opinion this was by far the best Sonesta ship and is a luxury all-suite ship. The manager's motto is "Service is our Passion". This is a stand out amongst the ships on the Nile. The size of the ship with just 33 cabins is amazing. This page is mostly pictures to let you see the interior of the ship. The ship was refurbished and looks brand new with lots of wood and marble flooring and quality furnishings.
Smoking Policy: All cabins are non smoking and smoking is only allowed in open areas (decks)
Foyer and Main Lounge
The foyer opens up to encompass all the decks with a beautifully polished marble floor and light colors this is very large area for a ship with only 66 passengers. The main lounge is right off the foyer and is also very spacious with most of the seating in nice conversation areas. There is a large aquarium at the front of the main lounge and a reasonably sized dance floor in the center.
We will have set tables reserved for our group. We can move around and eat with different people within the group at those tables.
Not sure how many this dining room seats but it appears to have more seating than the capacity of the ship and the tables are not close together but spread apart which makes the dining room much quieter than normal. The forward part of the dining room pictured here is where they serve the breakfast and lunch buffets. This was the only ship I saw with a "sneeze guard" over the salad area. There seems to be a lot of attention to this type of detail.
Open Spaces - Card Tables
There are more additional public spaces than most ships offer. Not shown on the deck plan are these delightful little seating corners on various decks. Such as the card table area pictured here. The center picture is the waiting area outside of the dining room which is quite large. The ship also of course has a shop but I did not get a picture of the shop on my visit.
Fitness Center, Sauna, Massage Therapy and Whirlpool
The Fitness and Wellness area is exceptional for a Nile River Boat. There is also a steam room that is not shown here. This is a nice area in comparison to most ships where care and planning has obviously been taken to make this a nice facility. Most of the fitness centers are crammed into a tiny corner.
Sun Deck, Dining and Lounging Area with Pool
The sun deck is huge with two main areas. The dining area where they will offer lunches on a nice day with a special "misting" feature that drops the temperature as much as 10 degrees. The sunning area has umbrellas for shade and a swimming pool to cool off. The views are wonderful from this deck as you glide down the Nile.
