New Zealand Passport & Visa Information
Entry, Exit & Visa Requirements
All USA citizen as visitors to New Zealand must carry a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond the date you intend to leave the country. There must be one blank passport page for the entry stamp.
Currently travelers from more than 50 countries including the United States do not require a Visitor's Visa for stays less than three months. You do require: A passport that is valid for at least three months after your planned departure from New Zealand; an onward or return ticket to a country that you have permission to enter; and sufficient money to support yourself during your stay - approximately NZ$1000 per month per person.
Certain airports, including Auckland and Queenstown, no longer require a departure tax and instead this tax is built into your airfare through the carrier. Some smaller airports may still charge a departure tax. As this changes periodically, it is best to check in advance based on your itinerary.
As rules and regulations are subject to change, here are some official resources for review.
