Tauranga boasts 100's of kilometers of white sand, surf beaches, an abundance of sunshine and a temperate environment which means you can enjoy outdoor activities all year round. Tauranga and Mt. Maunganui are located only 2.5 hours drive from Auckland and there's definitely ‘plenty' to do and ‘plenty' to see.

Tauranga has grown a lot over the years. It has a strip of land (pictured above) that juts out with ocean on each side. It has a very wide and clean beach area and you can walk out to a small island when the tide is right. Be careful though because the tide can come in quite quickly. The waterfront is filled with shops and restaurants. There is also lots of agriculture in this area of New Zealand. The land is very fertile and the climate is very temperate here. A trip out to the orchards and seeing the brilliant greens of the countryside is a nice day's outing.

From sunbathing to skydiving, there is plenty to do and experience. From lazing on a beach, jet boating, white water rafting, kayaking and dolphin watching to golf, garden tours, fishing, farm tours, horse trekking and exploring walking trails which cover coastal areas, estuaries, wetlands, waterfalls and inland reserves, and the list goes on. For sightseeing, there are the Heritage buildings, historic battle sites, museums about the Kiwi fruit, Mt Maunganui and the famous hot salt-water pools, White Island (New Zealand's only active marine volcano), McLaren Falls Lake and gardens, and the spectacular native bush scenery in the Kaimai Ranges
